Found!

WE SAW STARFISH! So exciting! We wanted to see things we can't see here and we were successful on a few counts, this being one! The population is on the rebound after being hit by a wasting disease in the last few years. There was also one on each side of this one, but I didn't realize it until after I gave up my position in front. Since it was a child that was in my way, I didn't push my way back. (I could've taken her, though.)
They are surprisingly hard to find if they aren't orange like this one - the others were purplish. I saw another one the next day and eventually I will get to my trip photos...still working on a pre-trip project.

(I think technically these are called sea stars - we heard that more than starfish.)
