A walk down memory lane, by way of Kirby Park

There were cattails in the pond at Kirby Park the other day! Seeing them takes me back to playing in the swamps* around the childhood homestead, and all the fun we had with toads and salamanders, playing cowboys and just exploring. Cattails always fascinated me, as did milkweed when it went to seed. It must have been the fluffiness! Good times!

*Now, our swamps would be called "wetlands". Political correctness and all.
